FLOWER TEAM

Contact: TBC

The Flower Team is a friendly, sociable group which create and look after flower displays in the church.  We work in groups of three, which change weekly so you soon get to know everyone. A ‘turn’ comes about every 6 -8 weeks.  We arrange the flowers in church usually on Fridays, but this can be Saturdays, except for Lent and Advent when there are no flowers.   All the group comes together for Christmas, Easter, Harvest and the summer fair (and a Christmas or summer party). Experience is not necessary as beginners are supported with the more experienced.

ST MARY'S SCRUBBERS

Contact: Jenny Kelly

The St Mary’s Scrubbers help keep the church clean and welcoming.  We work in groups of four, with each group meeting up every five weeks for one to one and a half hours, choosing the day and time that suits them. We always welcome more offers of help, especially some younger members! There is no gender barrier and we have some great men also helping.

THE ECO GROUP

Contact: Anne Hutchins & Liz Webborn

Psalm 24 tells us 'The earth is the Lord's, and all it contains, the world, and those who dwell in it'. The Eco Church Group at St Mary's seeks to respond to the Eco Church (A Rocha UK) challenge to engage our church community with environmental stewardship, for which we currently hold the Silver Award. This means integrating green themes and values into our worship, buildings, land use, community engagement and individual lifestyles. Formed in 2010,
the group has oversight of the churchyard, the Garden of Remembrance, and Oak Lane Cemetery, along with church buildings, the use of fair-trade products at meetings and events,
sustainable energy suppliers, and recycling for parishioners. It seeks to respond to global and local issues, and encourages eco principles of living into all aspects of church life. Our committed members meet six times a year to share progress, and tackle specific projects in focused working groups. We are currently working towards A Rocha UK Gold Award.
