CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE

Our Vision – to nurture our children and young people with a sense of God

Children are an important part of our church community and are welcome to remain in church with their parents during our services.

For young children there is a colouring/activity table and plenty of books for use at all times. The vestry is also available for parents to take their youngsters into, if distraction is needed for a while, at anytime during the service. There are lots of toys, books, puzzles etc. in the baskets and cupboard.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

This takes place during term-time in the first part of the 9.30am Sunday service (except on the third Sunday, when children and young people join in the whole service in church). It comprises an informal act of worship for Scramblers and Explorers in the Church Hall followed by Sunday School activities for different age groups:

  • Scamblers - for 3-5½ year olds

    • The session includes a Bible story or song and the opportunity to make something related to the theme of the session. Parents collect their children and return to church for Communion.

  • Explorers - for 5½ - 8 year olds

    • The session usually includes discussion and often a game followed by an activity based around a Bible story. The children are brought back to church in time for Communion.

  • Adventurers & SMG - for 8 years and above.

    • Our 8-11s and 11+ groups meet together to share the gospel of the day or a Bible reading. It is a chance for them to worship together, be curious about Christianity and wonder about life. The group returns to the church in time for the Eucharistic Prayer as preparation for receiving Communion (if they have chosen to be admitted to taking Communion before Confirmation).
