About the event


Elin Harries, soprano, alongside instrumentalists Ibrahim Aziz and Asako Ogawa from Linnet Baroque, perform a programme of songs and cantatas showcasing the use of the bass viol in the Renaissance and Restoration periods, moving to the high baroque preference for cello.


The works featured include music written by Handel for the Italian virtuoso cellist, Caporale and music written by Caporale himself.


The programme also features a cantata by Marcello with one of the earliest transcriptions of a Hebrew psalm, a dazzling motet with bass viol obbligato by the Hungarian early Baroque composer, Capricornus, a psalm setting by Monteverdi & music by the English Restoration composers, Croft and Purcell.
