Wedding at St Mary's

St Mary’s welcomes couples who wish to be married and hold a wedding at the Church.

Under law a couple may be married in a Church of England church if either of the couple:

  1. has at any time lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months; or
  2. was baptised in the parish concerned; or
  3. was prepared for Confirmation in the parish; or
  4. has at any time regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months; or
  5. one of the couple’s parents, at any time after their son or daughter was born, has either lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or has regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months; or
  6. one of the couple’s parents or grandparents was married in the parish; or
  7. is on the Electoral Role of the parish.

If you cannot demonstrate any of the above connections or have previously been married and the marriage ended in divorce, please be encouraged to contact the Parish Office on 020 8744 2693 to make an appointment with one of the clergy to discuss the wedding options open to you.
