The Trinity Apple Tree
An unusual apple tree has been planted in the Churchyard next to the cherry trees by the War Memorial. This tree has an interesting history as it was bred by Jerzy Bartoscewicz who was involved in the Polish resistance during the second World War and came to Britain where he worked as a chemist. He settled, married and had four children, and his widow who was a dance teacher still lives in Whitton where Jerzy was a very keen gardener. The tree will hopefully produce bright red apples whose colour permeates the flesh as well as the skin!
SMG and other Church goers enjoyed skating at Twickenham ice rink.
The church was packed for the annual Christmas Nativity. The children all performed and sang beautifully. More photos available here: http://flic.kr/s/aHsjQU2zCA
Our very own Reverend Jeffrey Hopkin-Williams and the Mayor turned on the Christmas Lights in Church Street this year on Friday, November 22nd at 6:30pm.
Last weekend, some of the members of our congregation went on a pilgrimage to the shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham in Norfolk. It was a great time of togetherness, quietness, worship, walking and eating! This was the eighth time in recent years members of the parish have been and we have enjoyed meeting Christians of all ages and from all over the country. This year we were particularly blessed with bright sunshine all weekend. Next year's pilgrimage is from the 3rd to 5th of October.
The Harvest Thanksgiving Service was the first service taken by Dr Rev'd Piotr amidst beautiful floral arrangements. Many generous gifts were donated to the harvest collection and delivered to the Food Bank in Richmond. Further donations are still welcome and can be left at the back of the church.
On Sunday 8 September we celebrated our Patronal Festival and also the licensing of our new Assistant Priest, Dr Rev'd Piotr Ashwin-Siejkowski, by the Archdeacon of Middlesex, the Venerable Stephan Welch, who spoke warmly about St Mary's and what we are seeking to do as a parish. The service was followed by a celebration in the Garden of Remembrance.
