Welcome to the website for St. Mary’s,
Parish Church, Twickenham.
For centuries the church of St. Mary’s has
stood, beacon-like, upon the banks of the Thames, anchored in the soil of
Twickenham, directing hearts and minds of generations toward the strange and
holy business of our communion with our Creator.
For centuries our church has been the place
where people have brought their children for Baptism, made loving commitment to
each other in Marriage, commemorated and prayed for the souls of their departed
loved ones, brought the needs of the world and the brokenness of their lives,
seeking an encounter with a God who loves, accepts, heals, forgives and
transforms.
Through political, theological and social
change in our nation and in our world, St. Mary’s has emerged renewed in its
vocation to offer hospitality to all as they seek dialogue with the divine, and
today’s present congregation remains faithful to that vocation, meeting together in
Eucharist, week by week, to celebrate the love of God, refocus their lives in
the context of the Scriptures, encourage deeper faith in each other and nurture
our children and young people with a sense of God.
I hope that the following pages of our
website will help you sense something of the energy which animates us as we seek
to be a community of the Spirit’s making, firmly engaged in the discipleship to
which Christ calls us. I further hope that, reading something of our life
together here will stir you to visit St. Mary`s and be part of our life
together.
With all good wishes and the assurance of
our prayers for all who log on to this website.
